The “Green Hell” of Písek welcomed the MS KART drivers for the fourth round of the national championship from July 11–13. Conditions were constantly changing from lap to lap – sunshine, rain, dry sections alternating with wet patches – making tyre choice a key decision in every heat. Despite the challenges, MS KART brought home four podium finishes and valuable experience from one of the toughest tracks of the season.
The youngest racers in the Baby 60 category had an especially tough time in Písek. After a crash in heat one and a sixth-place finish in the second, Johanka Sovičková managed to fight her way to eighth place in the super final. Michael Klas finished sixth in a solid opening heat but was disqualified in the second. Nevertheless, he recovered well and secured seventh place in the final.
In the OK-N class, Matyáš Kučera had a breakthrough weekend. After a less-than-ideal qualifying session that saw him start only seventh, he struggled with unpredictable kart behaviour throughout the weekend, particularly in the technical final sector. Taking a risk in the super final, he adopted a more aggressive driving style. In a tight train of eight drivers, he managed to work his way forward and, aided by opponent penalties, climbed onto the podium for the first time in OK-N – an unexpected but well-earned third place on home soil.
Another strong result came from David Rosypal in the ROK Junior category. From qualifying, he showed consistent pace and, thanks to strong performances in heats two and three – where he finished just behind the leaders – he claimed third place overall. He remained in contention with the front runners right up to the final laps.
Lukáš Babáček looked comfortable on the Písek circuit and showed promising pace, but had extraordinary bad luck. Despite qualifying eighth, he was involved in collisions in every heat and did not complete a single full race.
In the premier KZ2 class, Jakub Kadlčák bounced back from a disappointing fifth in qualifying to win both initial finals. Unfortunately, a poorly chosen gear ratio for the super final cost him the lead, and he had to settle for third. Still, he scored valuable points and secured another podium for the team.
Local driver Filip Vloch left Písek disappointed this time. After qualifying outside the top five, he couldn’t find the right pace in any of the races and finished a modest 13th in the rainy final.
In the KZ2 Gentleman category, the team fielded two drivers. Jaroslav Capík was in excellent form, placing second in both qualifying and the heats, but a mechanical issue in the super final forced him to retire.
On the other hand, Josef Barilla recovered impressively after a seized engine in the opening heat forced him to start from the back. He fought his way to sixth in heat two and delivered a gutsy drive in the super final to finish P3, celebrating his first-ever podium in the Czech Championship. Congratulations!
The MS KART team demonstrated resilience, unity, and the ability to adapt to harsh conditions. The unpredictable weather and track in Písek tested everyone, but such moments reveal the true strength of both drivers and the support behind them.
The next challenge will be the Moravian Cup and Slovakian Championship round in Vysoké Mýto, kicking off on July 18.
